Highly effective work, project and management team have several characteristics in common with highly effective sports teams:- Everyone on the team is playing the same game.
- Everyone on the team knows what and where the goals are.
- The rules of the game are understood and followed by all team members.
- Each individual team member is competent to play his position.
- The team members, together, have the combined competencies necessary to play effectively.
- The team consists of exactly enough members to do the job it was created to do.
- Individual excellence is encouraged, but only if it is to the benefit of the whole team winning its matches.
- Feedback, both positive and negative, is direct and immediate.
